DURING the Sixties it was a rich man's playground, in the following two decades a legendary hideaway for gangsters and wide boys from London's East End.

The Costa del Sol, the 24-carat gold coastline of Spain's Andalusia, earned the nickname Costa del Crime and the glitzy town of Marbella, once the mecca of sheiks and stars, fell into decline.

But today the bronzed and the beautiful are back. Sunbeds along the beach are doing a brisk trade and the place is buzzing.
