It may be the day when the light goes out, literally, on Birmingham. The August eclipse could be an amazing spectacle, weather permitting, but experts fear the once-in-a-lifetime experience may leave many with eyesight problems - which could last for a lifetime. ANDY RICHARDS reports.
IT is set to be the most breathtaking astronomical event that many people in the Midlands will ever see.
But unfortunately, it could leave thousands of us with injuries of such severity to our eyes that it may cause permanent damage and even blindness in some people.
