This region has traditionally been a breeding ground for creative genius; from Abraham Darby's Ironbridge furnaces that sparked the industrial revolution, to Frank Whittle's jet engine.
The art of inventing is still very much alive and kicking, as the Spirit of Invention event at Putsmans Solicitors in Birmingham underlined.
The exhibition, organised through the Black Country Inventors' group, was intended to lure bashful designers out of their laboratories and into the spotlight.
