I've never met anybody who doesn't like clematis. There are so many different kinds to choose from that there's a clematis for everybody and for every garden. I was brought up with them, because they were my dad's passion.
He sent away for the newest and showiest varieties and was a dab hand at getting the best out of them. I can remember as a child being knocked out by the sheer size of the flowers, as big as tea-plates.
