DURING the 1980s, when a lot of Lanarkshire's heavy engineering companies ground to a halt, Airdrie might not have seemed like the most attractive place to live.
But now, the town has a bright and prosperous future, says Iain Carmichael, chief executive of Lanarkshire Development Agency.
"Several high-profile businesses have located near the town and many people from the Airdrie area have already benefited from the new jobs created at sites like Eurocentral, home to the giant Chunghwa Picture Tubes manufacturing operation," he said.
