STRICT celibacy laws could drive the priesthood to extinction, the Roman Catholic Church was warned yesterday.
The number of serving priests in Scotland has dropped from 966 to 740.
Tonight BBC Scotland's Frontline programme will highlight the growing campaign for a review in Catholic celibacy laws.
Figures show the number of young men entering the priesthood has dropped to an all-time low - falling by more than 75 per cent in 20 years.
