Helen Mirren seems to have been making a speciality of playing American writers just recently.
She won an Emmy for playing 1950s writer Ayn Rand in a television film of the same name (made for Showtime US and therefore only likely to turn up here on cable) and now she is on tour in Donald Margulies' play Collected Stories, which opens at the Malvern Theatre tomorrow night.
In this two-hander she plays Ruth Steiner, a succesful writer of short stories whose relationship with the younger colleague she has schooled (played here by Anne-Marie Duff), comes under ...
