A top-level inquiry has been ordered into the Chief Constable of Warwickshire after allegations were made about him by members of his staff.
Mr Andrew Timpson, aged 48, went on sick leave yesterday as the inquiry was announced.
Mr Timpson who has been in post in the county for 14 months is to be investigated by Mr Norman Bettison, the Chief Constable of Merseyside, working under the supervision of the Police Complaints Authority.
Mr Timpson has also stepped down from heading a major PCA probe into Cleveland Police and its zero tolerance policies.
