A graceful avenue of lime trees beloved by cricket fans faces the chop at a ground dubbed the most beautiful in the country.
Some of the trees, which line New Road in Worcester, could be felled as part of plans for a new bus lane.
Worcestershire county councillor Bob Bullock said he feared the limes were under threat and he has launched a campaign to save the leafy arbour.
