A British man being treated for the highly-infectious tropical disease Lassa fever was critically ill yesterday and fighting for his life.
Doctors said the unnamed man, in his early 50s and from Kent, was being kept in a sealed tent in the high-security infectious diseases unit at Coppetts Wood Hospital in Muswell Hill, North London.
Doctors thought his condition was improving over the weekend after he was transferred to the unit from University College Hospital. But his lungs began failing on Saturday and he is now unconscious and being ventilated in the ...
