As part of its Allegheny Works initiative, Alcoa Foundation announced today it is seeking proposals from non-profit organizations for literacy and employment programs on the Northside.

The announcement comes at the start of year two of Allegheny Works, a five-year, $1 million initiative to improve literacy and employment opportunities on the Northside. Last year, with the input of a Northside community panel, Alcoa Foundation awarded $200,000 to 13 Northside organizations and institutions.
