Many options exist for defining the concept
Many options exist for defining high speed machining or high speed cutting (HSC). Is machining at 200 ipm high speed? Is 600 ipm fast enough to be considered high speed? If you are cutting at 50 ipm, then 200 ipm is certainly higher speed.
In effect, high speed is in the eyes of the beholder.
Although high speed is an important issue to machinists, it is also important to consider the means to that end. What components facilitate a machine cutting at high speeds?
