The film Shakespeare in Love has certainly given Renaissance literature a boost. The Royal Shakespeare Theatre reports that bookings for the current season are up and visitors to Stratford head for the Birthplace to see where Joseph Fiennes was born (sorry, Shakespeare).
Judi Dench's Oscar-winning performance as the marvellously canny Elizabeth I has also helped to boost sales of books on the life of that extraordinary woman.
