Mar. 17--The Marines work in camouflage pants and jackets while the sailors wear dungarees and blue work shirts.
The Navy uses the sea and boats to deliver their firepower against enemies. Marines attack from the ground and sometimes the air.
At Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, the military wants those differences to fade as the two branches unite on the base called "Fightertown" to fly F/A-18 Hornet jets.
This morning, 22 Navy jets fly into Beaufort, increasing the air station's active-duty population by almost 500. Its jets boost the inventory above 100 planes, said Marine Col. Bruce Hulick, the air station commander.
