Bob and Linda Simpson first heard of links between the Edinburgh Castle and Legionnaires' Disease when they found a letter lying on their berth late on Saturday.
By then, the ship was heading home to Greenock and their pounds 1400 "dream cruise" was almost over.
But Direct Cruises had known on Wednesday that water samples from the Edinburgh Castle contained "concerning levels" of deadly legionella bacteria - and chose to keep passengers in the dark.
Linda, 52, of Liberton, Edinburgh, said: "We were shocked and angry. All we got was this letter.
