Q I WANT to replace my late parakeet with two pretty lovebirds but am a bit dubious because I have been told that they require a very large cage, otherwise they become angry and distressed.

A DESPITE their romantic name, lovebirds can be quite spiteful little creatures who will fight if too closely confined and be quite destructive if left to fly around the house. It's best to keep them in an aviary about 6ft high, 9ft long and 6ft wide, giving them plenty of space to fly.
