PREDATORY plants are those species that rely on other species of animal or plant in order to survive. While they inevitably derive some nutrients by means of photosynthesis, they also digest insects or draw nutrients from plants growing nearby. Those carnivorous species of plant that eat insects and small animals do so by a host of ingenious means. Those that rely on other plants for food do so more directly, by invading their territory or sucking nutrients directly from them.
