When Charles Dance was last in Birmingham, he found himself with some time on his hands. So he hailed a cab and directed the driver to a house in Rednal.
As the taxi pulled up in front of 54 Middle Drive, Charles jumped out, took a photograph and then jumped in again.
What the bemused cabbie wouldn't have realised was that the actor spent the first four years of his life in Middle Drive.
"I didn't get a pang of nostalgia when I saw the house," he remembers. "It was just bricks and mortar".
