OUR guide, Jack, was a bearded whippet of a man, who climbed mountains with the ease of a goat.
Not for him the long, leisurely looks at the view every ten seconds or so. Not for him a coffee and sandwich every 100 paces.
Jack, who was far fitter than me, preferred to soldier on to the top in as fast a time as possible. Since he is about twice my age, he is obviously doing something right.
