POTHOLES pit the foggy drive that leads to Gravel Pit Farm-where they don't do any farming.
A big man wearing glasses and a quizzical expression, with a face a bit Michael Bentine and a bit Michael Caine, walks a bit Charlie Chaplin across the yard with a bucket of nuts in one hand and a scoop of oats in the other.
"They're very similar to their trainer, these horses," he says, looking at one of them with resigned affection. "Their best performance is at their feed trough."
