ON March 9 Sinn Fein should have returned to the multi-party talks after spending two weeks in the sin-bin for breaching the Mitchell Principles on non-violence. However, an obstinate Gerry Adams refused re-entry to the negotiation table until after he had met with Tony Blair.
Two weeks later, the republican party made a controversial return to the talks as parties prepared for the last lap of make or break negotiations geared towards a May political deal. As the process entered its most crucial phase to date, Mo Mowlam dubbed it "decision time".
