FAVOURITE BLOOMS... forsythia (above left) and berberis (above right) are two plant that thrive on clay soil
DURING my recent visit I was entertained and reminded of the valuable properties of clay soils by guest speaker Paul Williams, Head Gardener at Bourton House near Moreton-in-Marsh.
A good many gardens in the West Midlands have clay soils and for owners it can be a nightmare cultivating the soil and then finding plants that will tolerate the cold, wet, sticky conditions.
