AS many of us remember, Sundays used to be a day of rest. It was a day for going to church and a day when working people could enjoy peace and quiet.
Then commercialism reared its ugly head. Shops were allowed to trade for a limited number of hours. Bye-laws, which had previously prevented actions which caused noise, were overlooked. Soon Sundays became a time for garden mowers, power drills and tunin g car engines. Then service industry employees became obliged to go into to work.
As time passed, Sunday was a repeat of Saturday - a time of movement, noise ...
