Mar. 24--YankeeNets, the new regional sports and entertainment powerhouse, said yesterday it has scrapped plans to build a soccer stadium within its proposed Newark sports complex.
The sudden reversal means the MetroStars will have to independently finance a stadium and conduct their own negotiations with City Hall and Gov. Christie Whitman for land and public money if they want to build in Newark.
