Reconstructing a ballet not seen for almost half a century and no longer remembered by its creator, seems an unlikely prospect. For David Bintley, artistic director of Birmingham Royal Ballet, the challenge is "pure pleasure."
His revival of Dame Ninette de Valois's The Prospect Before Us , he says, is part of BRB's tribute to the remarkable women who founded their company and who celebrates her century on June 6.
"Madam", as she is universally known, choreographed the "dramatic ballet in seven scenes" in 1940 for the then Sadler's Wells Ballet.
