Malta has a bit of an image problem with some holidaymakers. Fish and chip shops, bumpy roads, military bases and scores of pensioners are among the misconceptions that spring to mind.
Don't be put off. Malta, lying in the Mediterranean between Sicily and Africa, is a treasure trove of historical sites - with enough to keep the whole family entertained.
