1. Production in the recent years
The titanium dioxide capacity in China is nearly 200 000 t/a with more than 100 producers. Except Jinzhou Ferric Alloy Factory, all other producers use the sulfuric acid process.
China started the titanium dioxide production in the 60's. The proportion of enamel-grade varieties and electrode-grade varieties was more than 80% at that time. The production started to be based on pigment-grade varieties from the mid-80's. The proportion of pigment-grade varieties rose to 50% in 1985 and 60% in the 90's, holding a leading position in the titanium dioxide production.
