Surgutneftegas is sending a delegation to the remote republic of Sakha in Eastern Siberia at the end of March to discuss cooperation with regional oil and gas producer Sakhaneftegas (SNG).
SNG is hoping that the talks will spark a renaissance of interest in the region's vast oil and gas reserves, after a string of failed attempts to attract outside investment.
Surgutneftegas is keen to study the region's potential for supplying gas to the Chinese market. The republic's reserves are currently pegged at some 1.3 trillion cubic meters of gas and 2.2 billion barrels of liquids. But SNG reckons that additional exploration could ratchet up the total to 9.4 ...
