In a world first, scientists are directly tracking a white shark as it swims in southern Australian waters.
A two metre female white shark has been fitted with an electronic tag that transmits its position by satellite to a computer at CSIRO Marine Research in Hobart.
"This is the first time a satellite tag has been used on a white shark," say project leaders Dr John Stevens and Barry Bruce. "Using the ARGOS satellite system, the tag can provide a location to within 120 metres." Researchers are building a ...
