Women are the fastest growing population at risk for HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, in the United States. Approximately 22% of the HIV infected population in this country are women, and women of color are disproportionately affected: 80% are African-American or Hispanic.
Many of the skin conditions commonly associated with HIV or AIDS that affect women are often treated as a single problem rather than an indication for further HIV testing.
