BEIRUT, Lebanon, March 29 (UPI)
Lebanese President Emile Lahoud said his country and Syria were the "most excited" for achieving peace in the Middle East but warned that Israeli attempts to drag Lebanon into clashes with Syrian troops stationed on its land would fail, according to As Safir newspaper.
"Lebanon and Syria are the most excited for peace, but not any peace," Lahoud told As Safir in his first comment on the meeting between U.S. President Clinton and Syrian leader Hafez Assad in Geneva on Sunday, a meeting that failed to reach an agreement on the resumption of Syrian-Israeli peace talks.
