Who was Tissa and where did he come from? Nobody's got a clue, although his name suggests he was an Anglo-Saxon. Any road, we do know he made his way into the Forest of Arden before or just after the Norman Conquest of 1066.
He must have been an adventurous bloke to cleave his way through the trees and bushes that barred his path, but he was obviously spurred on by the need to find somewhere to live.
