Prince Sadruddin Aga Khan is the president of Alp Action, created in 1990 to develop alliances between the private sector, media and environmental organizations to protect the natural and cultural heritage of the Alps.
On March 24, 1999, a truck loaded with margarine and flour caught fire in the Mont Blanc tunnel that connects France and Italy. There were no "dangerous substances" aboard, but the flames from this refrigerated vehicle were unusually intense.
