PSVR1, a peanut stunt virus-resistant white clover germplasm (Trifolium repens L.) (Reg. no. GP-8, PI 606770), was released in 1998 by USDA-ARS and the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station. PSVR1 was developed by intercrossing white clover plants selected for hypersensitive resistance to peanut stunt cucumovirus (PSV).
The hypersensitivity of PSVR1 originated from a single plant, designated clone 22R (2). Clone 22R was collected in November 1985 at Prairie, MS, as a stolon cutting from a 3-yr-old grazed `Regal' white clover pasture, where more than 80% of the white clover plants were infected with PSV.
