IRELAND swept the boards in the World short mat bowls championship in Douglas, Isle of Man, over the weekend.
The Irish turned on a magnificent display to lift the singles, pairs, triples and fours championship. The representatives in green also finished runners-up in the singles and pairs and third place in the triples and fours. Quite a remarkable achievement.
It was Raymond Stubbs who lifted the singles crown. The player from Christ Church, Maguiresbridge, romped through his group games, but was surprisingly beaten in his final out by the Belgium champion.
