I was stunned to read that the Royal Bank of Scotland want to scrap pounds 1 notes.
They claim it's a cost-cutting exercise, but I think the real reason is because many shops south of the border frown upon them.
The pounds 1 has a strong Scottish identity. It would be wrong to get rid of it. - T. Dunbar, Ayr.
Speak easy
Reader G. Barrie shouldn't criticise anyone's use of language. In Scotland, we speak in regional dialect and that is nothing to be ashamed of.
Is G. Barrie suggesting that we should speak only in English dialect? ...
