A tidal wave of bicycles headed right at me as I reached the middle of a Shanghai street...and there was only one thing to do: Pray to Buddah.
He must have been looking favourably on a dithering, quivering Scots lass on what turned out to be my lucky day in China... and I made it to the other side a split second before the peddling mass of humanity swept past in a deafening crescendo of ringing bells.
There are eight million bikes in Shanghai, and for a terrifying moment I was sure every single one of them was heading towards me...
