Stan Gerrard has a mystical air... he has a soft, deliberate voice and a strange, yellowish patch in his hair.
He sounded gently hypnotic as his long hands hovered over my sore shoulder.
The music in his clinically white surgery seemed louder as his hands passed over my ears and there was a strange warmth on my cheek.
But as I squinted through half-shut eyelids, I saw him looking at a modern digital watch. The muscular ache had gone... but, thanks to the watch, so had some of the mystical air.
