A remarkable tribute to the quality of our printing industry is this year's (11th) business calendar (produced in association with the Ulster Museum,) by W and G Baird and it is another collectable gem. The featured artist is Belfast-born Paul Henry (1876-1958).
One of four sons of a Baptist minister, he escaped the staid restriction of his manse upbringing to study art, first (briefly) in Belfast.
In 1898 he went to Paris, then the Mecca of Western painting, where the American painter, Whistler, was probably the major influence on Henry's landscape style.
