Britain's feudal property laws have claimed another victim.
Ian Kilburn has been locked out of his own house in Blackrod, Lancashire - for not paying a ground rent bill of just pounds 15.
And to get his home back, he must pay pounds 1,000 demanded by the landlords.
Mr Kilburn bought the detached house with a mortgage four years ago. Like millions of other homeowners, he has the property on leasehold, while landlords 200 miles away own the freehold.
