Article: Leading stocks down as market takes a breather.(Business)

The stock market took a breather yesterday with most leading stocks marked down a few pence.

Figures showing the trade gap with the rest of the world in July, showing the economy was withstanding the impact of the strong pound, added to interest rate worries.

But it was Wall Street which set the tone for the day, sending the FTSE index down 11.7 at 5065.5.

Companies away from the leading index vied for attention with the likes of Laura Ashley, Redland and Sears reporting figures.
