Apr. 4--Duke Energy International, a Houston-based subsidiary of Duke Energy, is entering the European market by buying Exxon Mobil's natural gas trading and marketing company in the Netherlands, called Mobil Europe Gas. Duke plans to use the acquisition to build a power trading company there, said a spokeswoman in Houston.
Mobil Europe Gas is the largest independent marketer in the Netherlands, marketing 105 billion cubic feet per year, or 6 percent of the country's total. Its annual revenues were not disclosed. It utilizes gas supplies from Exxon Mobil affiliates in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Germany.
