PROJECT OVERVIEW
The local DUBAI ALUMINIUM CO. (DUBAL), as a result of its various expansion projects, is soon expected to have an installed production capacity of 540,000 tons per year (t/y). In any case, according to Ian Rugeroni, DUBAL CEO, his company is now considering a 400,000 t/y expansion project at its Jebel Ali smelter.
Although the lack of gas may have postponed some of the company's expansion plans up until now, additional gas supplies are now due to arrive in Jebel Ali around mid-2001 as a result of the recent award of a pipeline construction contract.
