Philippine meat processors and livestock raisers are preparing to boycott Australian cattle and meat products unless Canberra opens up its market to fruits and other agricultural products.
The boycott threat, backed by the Department of Agriculture, was raised after departmental secretary Edgardo Angara decried the "unfair" trade barriers posed by Australia on Philippine farm exports through the use of sanitary and phyto-sanitary issues.
In separate letters, the Philippine Association of Meat Processors (PAMPI) and the Cattle Feedlot Association of the Philippines (CFAP) told their Australian counterparts to facilitate entry of local mangoes, bananas, ...
