PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 25 /PRNewswire/ --
Comcast Corporation (Nasdaq: CMCSK, CMCSA) announced today that it exercised its call option to acquire equity control of The Golf Channel. Comcast is increasing its ownership position from 40.1% to 54.7% and is offering to purchase additional shares from minority holders which would increase Comcast's ownership to 60.5%. Additional investors in The Golf Channel include Fox Television (30.9%) and Times Mirror (8.6%). The Golf Channel, based in Orlando, Florida, is the only 24-hour network devoted exclusively to golf programming, with worldwide distribution to approximately 30 million subscribers.
