KAMPALA, Uganda, April 9 (UPI)
Pressure is building Sunday on South Africa to intervene in the crisis in Zimbabwe, where the government has threatened to seize without compensation the country's 4,500 white-owned commercial farms.
South African President Thabo Mbeki told reporters in the capital Pretoria on Sunday that he planned to hold talks with Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe in Havana, Cuba, over the land dispute that has sent shock waves throughout the region.
"We are regularly in contact with Zimbabwe," Mbeki said. "We wouldn't go to Cuba to have a meeting with Zimbabwe. I mean, sure we will meet there as we will meet everybody else."
