"Jonathan Lasker: Selective Identity, Paintings from the 1990s" at the Rose Art Museum, Brandeis University, Waltham, through May 28.
"Jonathan Lasker: Selective Identity, Paintings from the 1990s," organized by the Birmingham Museum of Art and now on view at the Rose Art Museum, is Jonathan Lasker's first major North American retrospective. Not that he hasn't had retrospectives in other places. In 1997, Germany's Kunsthalle Bielefeld mounted one, followed by Amsterdam's Stedeljik Museum.
Perhaps, though, it is not surprising that American audiences have been slower than their European counterparts to appreciate Lasker's strengths. To those weaned on ...
