The Texas governor flips, flops, and then flips again on a possible meeting with gay Republicans
Now that George W. Bush has all but locked up the GOP presidential nomination, where does that leave Log Cabin Republicans, the party's gay rights organization? Apparently the Texas governor himself doesn't even know.
Last fall Bush told NBC's Meet the Press that he would "probably not" meet with Log Cabin because it would create a "huge political nightmare." Since then, religious-right groups have repeatedly pointed to the statement as one reason to back Bush over his primary opponent, Sen. John McCain, who met with Log Cabin last year.
