Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wazed asked in Washington this week for the United States to turn over three men convicted of murdering her parents, repeating a request she made to President Clinton in Dhaka last month.
She also hailed a U.S. offer to help Bangladesh measure and chart its reportedly enormous underground natural gas deposits, a hoped-for source of wealth for the impoverished Asian nation of 150 million.
The U.S. Geological Survey is to work with Bangladesh authorities to identify the quantity of gas lying under the country's soil and to map the deposits, a Bangladeshi official said Sunday.
