Targeted polymerized liposomes may be the oral vaccine delivery method of the future, suggested researchers from the United States.
"A variety of micro- and nano-particulate systems have been proposed as carriers for vaccines for mucosal delivery," according to Robert N. Brey, Innovax Delivery Technologies, Inc., Illinois. "Many of these have useful properties to protect encapsulated antigens, permitting antigen survival and direct antigen sampling at mucosal surfaces or during GI tract transit.
